Rowe-Clark Math & Science Academy Portraits
Date: 6/22/2014 - 9/1/2014
Rowe-Clark Math & Science Academy high school students explored the concept of identity by creating self-portraits influenced by the work of Ed Paschke.
In a working method that echoes Paschke’s own, student’s black and white pencil sketches were painted over with layers of fluorescent acrylic paint.
Inspired by Paschke to examine race, gender and how their life experiences have shaped them, these portraits creatively depict internal emotional states as well as outward appearances.
